Two rescued from burning Milwaukie home, one in critical condition

Authorities said the person survived thanks to a closed door that helped block smoke and flames until firefighters could arrive.

MILWAUKIE, Ore. — Two people were rescued from a 2-alarm fire at a home in Milwaukie on Thursday night, according to Clackamas Fire.

Firefighters responded just before 8:00 p.m. to a fire at a home in the 9700 block Southeast 38th Avenue.

A person who was trapped inside was rescued, according to firefighters. Authorities said the person survived thanks to a closed door that helped block smoke and flames until firefighters could arrive. The victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

A second person rescued and taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Clackamas Fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No other information is available at this time.
